Celebrating a Hero’s New Beginning: Home Dedication to Wounded Vet Patrick Scrogin

Representatives from US LBM and Hines Supply were honored to be in attendance at the recent home dedication of wounded veteran Patrick Scrogin. Patrick and his family were gifted a mortgage-free, specially-adapted smart home through Gary Sinise’s R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) Program, which builds specially adapted smart homes for some of the most severely wounded heroes.

Patrick’s journey is one of remarkable resilience and unwavering dedication to service. Following the events of 9/11, he quit his job and answered the call to duty, graduating Basic Training with honors before deploying to Iraq. During his second tour, a helicopter crash left him with severe injuries, leading to almost 60 surgeries and countless challenges. Undeterred, Patrick emerged from his ordeal with a powerful message – that one can overcome any obstacle life throws their way.

The US LBM Foundation was proud to support the construction of the house, donating $250,000 to the project, with Hines providing discounted building materials and providing other support to the build.

“We are honored to be part of the US LBM Foundation community where we can support the Gary Sinise Foundation. This partnership has given us the opportunity to donate and utilize our resources in supporting with great gratitude our nation’s veterans and their families, in particular Patrick Scrogin, U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 (Ret.). I consider it a great privilege as President of Hines Supply to embrace our call sign ‘The Trusted Resource for Building your Business,’ and we did this by helping to build a customized home for Patrick Scrogin and his family,” said Doug Jones, Hines Supply President.

For Patrick, the dream of a barrier-free home is not merely about physical comfort but a catalyst for achieving greater goals. A mentor at heart, he envisions using his experiences to guide and inspire others, focusing his energy on aiding fellow veterans on their journeys to overcome challenges. Patrick lives by the mantra, “The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.” This sentiment exemplifies his unwavering commitment to turning adversity into an opportunity for growth and positive change.

This Home dedication reflects a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our nation. As we look forward to Patrick’s new chapter in his specially adapted home, we celebrate the power of community and compassion that makes such transformations possible!
